DATES & TIMES    Hot Times Regional Chili Cook-off –- Friday, June 5 
•    Drop off equipment between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
•    Mandatory Meeting at 12:30pm.
•    Prep for Verde division begins at 12:00 p.m
•    Chili Verde Cooking Begins at 1:30 p.m.
•    Prep for Red @ 1:30 p.m. and start cooking @ 2:30 p.m.
•    Salsa Delivered to Judges at 3:00 p.m.
•    Chili Verde Delivered to Judges at 4:30 p.m.
•    Traditional Chili Red Delivered to Judges at 5:30 p.m.
•    People’s Choice Chili & Beer Tasting- 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
•    Chili Cook-off Winners announced at 7 p.m (or sooner) – all categories
•    All cooks may leave their tent/table set-up overnight

Sizzling Snowmass Regional Championship– Saturday, June 6
•    Drop off equipment between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
•    Prep for all divisions begins at 10:00 a.m.
•    Chili Verde Cooking Begins at 11:00 a.m.
•    Traditional Chili Red Cooking Begins at 12 noon
•    Chili Verde Delivered to Judges at 1:00 p.m.
•    Salsa Delivered to Judges at 12 noon
•    Traditional Chili Red Delivered to Judges at 3:00 p.m.
•    Chili & Grand Beer Tasting- 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
•    Chili Cook-off Winners announced at 4:30 p.m. – all categories

Earn the right to compete at the World’s Chili/Salsa Championship!  Winners could also take home over $3,000 in prize money, plus earn a chance to experience internationally renowned Aspen/Snowmass in the gorgeous summer season.  Several event improvements have been made this year to bring you the best championship weekend ever!

The 6th Annual Snowmass Chili Pepper & Brew Fest returns to Snowmass Village this summer on Friday and Saturday, June 5-6. New this year, there will be European and exotic beer sampling. In addition, over 40 microbrews, featuring summer ales from around the country, will compete for various honors while cooks and festival-goers savor the spirited results.  Every day the festival incorporates family-oriented entertainment and live concerts, capped off with popular headliners and beer samplings.

The highlights of this event are the International Chili Society (ICS)–Sanctioned Chili Cook-offs. Two REGIONAL competitions will be hosted on Snowmass Village Mall. The Hot Times Regional Chili Cook-off is featured on Friday, June 5, 2009 and the Sizzling Snowmass Regional is Saturday, June 6, 2009.  Cook-off’s feature three categories: Chili Red, Chili Verde and Salsa.

FRIDAY’S AND SATURDAY’S WINNERS ADVANCE TO WIN A SPOT IN THE WORLD’S. 

For participants on Friday, there is no entry fee for any category, provided cooks make an additional two gallons of chili for the People’s Choice chili tastings. For cooks on Saturday, the entry fee is $20 for Chili Red, $15 for Chili Verde, and $10 for Salsa.  Participants will battle it out for the top three spots to win cash prizes ranging from $200 - $1000, qualification and free entry to the 2009 World’s Championship (1st place), and of course, an original vintage Snowmass trophy and bragging rights.

A few changes have been made to the program based on your feedback from last summer:

To make your cooking experience more enjoyable and less pressured with the crowds, the Chili Village of non-ICS cooks will return this year even bigger than in the past.   There will be also be a local’s chili cook-off. THERE WILL BE SUFFICIENT GALLONS OF CHILI FOR THE CROWD FROM THESE SPONSORED BOOTHS AND YOUR CHILI!

The new site location of the Snowmass Mall will provide for a concentrated Chili area and vitality throughout the festival site.

There will be national acclaimed Bluegrass bands playing throughout the ICS cook area.

Beer Runners will be provided for ICS cooks so you can more easily enjoy seasonal brews.

All cooks get two Party Pass tickets for the weekend, which allow you and your guest FREE admittance to the entire Chili Pepper & Brew Fest weekend to enjoy brews, concerts, and other activities.  This is a $120 PLUS VALUE.

Parking for cooks only in the number lots, which allows for easier off-loading services.

An ICS membership is required to enter the competitions.  If you are not currently a member, you can register the morning of the competition in Snowmass.  For first time and newer cooks, a “first timer” incentive is offered.  Simply join ICS for $50 and you’ll get a year’s subscription to Chili Pepper Magazine and ICS’s Newspepper and free entry into Saturday’s event
