Winners could also take home over $3,000 in prize money, plus earn a chance to experience internationally renowned Aspen/Snowmass in the gorgeous summer season. Several event improvements have been made this year to bring you the best championship weekend ever!

The 5th Annual Snowmass Chili Pepper & Brew Fest returns to Snowmass Village this summer on Friday through Sunday, June 6-8. Over 40 microbrews, featuring summer ales from around the country, will compete for various honors while cooks and festival-goers savor the spirited results. Every day the festival incorporates family-oriented entertainment and live concerts, capped off with popular headliners and beer samplings.

The highlights of this event are the International Chili Society (ICS)-Sanctioned Chili Cook-offs. Two competitions will be hosted on Pepper Hill. The Front Range District Chili Cook-off is featured on Friday, June 6, 2008 and the Sizzling Snowmass Regional is Saturday, June 7, 2008. Cook-offs feature three categories: Chili Red, Chili Verde and Salsa.

FRIDAY'S AND SATURDAY'S WINNERS IN VERDE AND SALSA WIN A SPOT IN THE WORLD'S. THE RED WINNER ON FRIDAY GOES TO THE WORLD'S "LAST CHANCE," WHILE SATURDAY'S WINNER GOES TO WORLD'S RED FINALS. $1,000 GOES TO FRIDAY'S RED WINNER AND $500 TO VERDE EACH DAY!

For District participants on Friday, there is no entry fee for any category, provided cooks make an additional two gallons of chili for People's Choice chili tastings. For Regional cooks on Saturday, the entry fee is $20 for Chili Red, $15 for Chili Verde, and $10 for Salsa. Participants will battle it out for the top three spots to win cash prizes ranging from $200 - $1250, qualification and free entry to the 2008 World's Championship (1st place), and of course, an original vintage Snowmass trophy and bragging rights.

A few changes have been made to the program based on your feedback from last summer:

  • To make your cooking experience more enjoyable and less pressured with the crowds, the Chili Village of non-ICS cooks will return this year even bigger than in the past. Local cooks with runners will feed the majority of festival-goers. THERE WILL BE SUFFICIENT GALLONS OF CHILI FOR THE CROWD FROM THESE SPONSORED BOOTHS.
  • Beer Runners will be provided for ICS cooks so you can more easily enjoy seasonal brews.
  • All cooks get two Party Pass tickets for the weekend, which allow you and your guest FREE admittance to the entire Chili Pepper & Brew Fest weekend to enjoy brews, concerts, and other activities. This is a $110 VALUE.
  • On-site parking is for cooks only, and includes off-loading services.
  • A block of rooms is held at The Silvertree Properties/Wildwood Hotel in Snowmass Village, Colorado for ICS Chili cooks at an incredible discounted rate of only $69.00 a night. For this exclusive rate, reservations must be made by MAY 1. Call 1-877-748-0871 and mention "ICS Chili Cook" to get your special rate. The rooms will triple in value just before the Championship weekend ... you'll otherwise never experience Aspen/Snowmass at this price!

An ICS membership is required to enter the competitions. If you are not currently a member, you can register the morning of the competition in Snowmass. For first time and newer cooks, a "first timer" incentive is offered. Simply join ICS for $42 and you'll get a year's subscription to Chili Pepper Magazine and ICS's Newspepper.
